Christchurch, my tribute

John and I visited Christchurch on 15th February 2011. We noted how well the clean up from the earthquake the previous September had been going. Many of the broken buildings had been demolished and the sites cleared. Some had cordons around them, we shall never know whether they were to be demolished later or would be repaired in the future. There were also several buildings that simply had props against them.
We spent time in the central square buying a few little things and enjoying the sunshine. There was a flower festival in the Cathedral and we chatted to one of the ladies there for a while. We then had lunch at the Millennium Hotel, enjoyable tapas. We joked about the earth not moving for us but noted that our lunch table rocked.
We would have liked to take more time in the City but we'd had a problem finding anywhere to park and were on a limited time space, then couldn't find another one. We had been at the junction of Manchester Street and Asaph, it would have been a bad place to be a week later.
In fact, it was a week later, exactly, to the hour.
