Heading northwards now ... a regular haunt of ours at Souppes sur Loing

It's beside a busy little canal.  We were amused to see the name on this barge; we're in France remember.  Maybe the owner is English?

then along came another

The lady skipper on this one was obviously the partner of the skipper on the first one.  By the look of the car, they are doing alright.  The boat was the same size as the first but I think she should be in front.

Just north of Paris we stopped off at Chantilly
Chantilly chateau
While we associate Chantilly with lace and cream, it is really all about art and horses

Painting by Vernet
I am very curious about this painting by Vernet.  It is the same as one at Versailles, it looks identical.  I adore the horses!
Below ...
The library houses thousands of books and on the right, detail from a huge staircase.  I'm glad I don't have to dust that lot.

It was too hot to visit the stables and watch a dressage display, we'll return another year for that.

We decided not to spend our last night in Calais and stopped a little further westwards on a farm with a great view.  This shot was taken from the step of the motorhome and this was also our view from the back window.

England seen from France; July 2015

Despite all the troubles in Calais - we didn't see any of it btw - we picked up a little more wine and diesel (€1.18) before our tunnel crossing.  Only a 20 minute delay.

Below, Home; we were delighted to find that our garden saved some colour for us.
